Here's a couple more newer stereo titles that sound good thru a decent decoder. In this case, a Sansui qrx-7001 vario-matrix set to Surround mode:
Robbie Roberston & Red Road Ensemble - "Songs for the Native American"
Very full and atmospheric, lots of percussion and vocals (native american). A lot of sound coming out of rears in a very natural mix. Adds to the spooky quality of this 1994 release.
REM - "In Time"
I know there are 5.1 releases of a lot of REM's catalog. But this stereo mix of of their recent work when sent thru the Sansui sounds very quad-like.
King Crimson - "The Power to Believe"
Heavy, bass laden Crim that sounds awesome thru the Sansui. Could Fripp be thinking multi-channel for future releases?
