There is a buzz coming out of London of a possible release on dvd-audio of the Beatles' first two albums in ornate packaging early next year, possibly on a single disc. It is unlikely that there will be any multichannel mixes, as the first two albums were recorded on two-track machines (although overdub tapes can be synchronized to the raw two-tracks). The third album was recorded on a four-track in 1964, and they began working in eight-tracks on the "White Album" in 1968, so... what does the future hold? This is only a rumor at this time, but it seems that something is in consideration at least, according to my source.

My source works in the recording industry in London, he does not work for EMI, but is friends with some engineers there who tell him some of the things they work on or are scheduled to work on. He does not want to be identified, nor does he swear this project is anywhere past the preliminary stages, according to what he was allowed to know.
