I am not an idiot. Having tired of the war between DVD-Audio and SACD, I finally bought a universal player. Although at heart I still believe DVD-Audio is the more versatile format, many of the SACDs (mainly classical) I have bought recently are superb. As has been noted elsewhere, maybe the future is simply 5.1, regardless of the support.
One question: can anyone point me to a URL which has a comprehensible explanation of the technical "advantages" of both formats? To my ear, the sound quality of both is of equal clarity, and the hall and recording engineer have as much to do with the end result as whichever format is being used.
