Kiss-Destroyer Box Set, Disc 4 Live In Paris. CD 16/44.1 DR's are 8's, 9's, 10.
Sounds like shit, to be blunt. The DR's are decent for a CD, but this is a great example that Dynamic Range is just but a tool of many tools.

The Tea Party - The Tea Party

Their first album, independently released in 1991.
Remastered late last year with a couple of bonus tracks.
A bit rough around the edges but everything that made them a hit two years later is there.
Was supposed to be a demo to interest labels, no takers.
Hard to believe because they were big shortly thereafter.

NEKTAR BOOK of DAYS [Cleopatra Records/2 RBCDs] absolutely stunning remaster

Robert Palmer -
Some People Can Do What They Like

His third album, the best yet as I go through his Island catalog chronologically.
Really nice sound on these inexpensive Japanese pressings. I need to crank this into the high 30’s on my amp’s display most discs are in the 20’s which tells me this is dynamic and uncompressed.
At least that’s what it sounds like.

Retrospective: The Best of Suzanne Vega

Huge Suzanne Vega fan and this does a good job of covering her A&M years.
This is the European version. Exact same track list, the differences being the cover art and a bonus disc.
The mastering isn’t terrible but some tracks, especially the earlier ones, have been compressed just enough of to rob them of their depth and delicacy.

Focus - 50 Years Anthology

This has been sitting here for a year, time to delve in starting with:

Focus Plays Focus / In and Out of Focus

FE229D66-05D6-47FF-A3B8-1AA68E74FF58.jpeg
Decent enough album though not entirely representive of what would follow.
Sound is clear but thin.

Next up:

Focus II / Moving Waves

The only Focus album I know/own but hadn’t played in 30+ years.
Hocus Pocus starts it off with a bang, most of the material after is much softer.
The track Focus II is beautiful.
Fuller sound than the first album.
