Crown Lands - White Buffalo EP.

Great new rock album, which is rare these days. Only 4 songs, but they are all quite long, with the last one clocking in at over 13 minutes.

This was removed from Tidal for a while but it's back now. The mix is pretty active. It sounds quite good. I can only hope for a physical release with lossless Atmos.

I'm a huge Liz Phair fan and happened across Brad Wood's interview about how he mixed her new album in atmos. I checked and the atmos version is not available on Tidal. Is the atmos version available on Apple Music, or do albums/songs typically appear on both platforms at the same time?

I also learned that the reason I have to turn the volume up so much on atmos mixes as compared to stereo mixes is that dolby forces mix engineers to mix their music at -18 db or else get rejected during submission, which mix engineers love because it ends something called the "loudness wars".

Liz Phair - not that I have come across, no Atmos.

Tidal and Apple do seem to get the albums at the same time, but some start out exclusive to each service and eventually appear on both.

With Tidal, we all experienced a very low volume with the Atmos, many suspect that Tidal somehow is attenuating the Atmos by anywhere from -10 to -20 db and they don't realize this is happening. On Apple Music there is no issue with the volume level. However with Tidal even with the lower db, you can simply crank the volume and it won't be a loss of dynamic range.

Very strange...when the album came out back in June, Phair was also touting the Atmos mix on Twitter. I wonder what happened to it? Anyway, thanks to @genesplitter for the link to the video. Don't have time to get through the whole 53 minutes right now, but maybe in dribs and drabs over the weekend.

Let's see what response I get...
