Early fave of mine as well I've listened to for 55 years.
Columbia LP loaned to me as a high school freshman by a junior (with a Beatle haircut that was short enough on the sides & back not to get expelled) who played Hammond B-3 in a band.

We took great pride that Buddy Miles was from Nebraska.

Mike Bloomfield & Al Kooper were featured & pictured on the back cover of the early 1968 Grape Jam album that was included as a bonus with the Moby Grape "WOW" gatefold LP on Columbia.

By summer, Columbia released Super Session, life-changer & perennial fave for me.

We caught Farner's American Band live a few months ago at Des Plaines (IL) Theatre. Great show.

I asked Al Kooper about recording Grape Jam. "These guys were friends of mine."

Turns out this is a Nuggets collection and I found it with my other similar cd collections. Havent listened to it in years. The good thing is Amazon has copies and they start at an affordable price...but then go up.
For some reason I never got or knew about the box sets but just got single CD collections when these were available. oh well.
The last track is that really trippy Smell of Incense so I'm happy to have a copy of that song. Someone here posted an mp3 of it in this thread.
Also the track list is mostly unfamiliar songs not the same psych chestnuts.

However it is a great thing to learn there is so much more music from that period to learn about and enjoy.

I have the above Bachrach box set and enjoy it. Regret I never saw Bachrach ..... couldn't get a friend to go to one of his last appearances in Los Angeles.
Read his book about his life and recommend it.

Haha! I lived it and I still learn something new on a daily basis. It's a difficult musical decade to wrap your head around. So MUCH happened, especially after the Beatles opened the flood gates. The creativity was off the charts.
