I picked this up a few weeks back, though I didn't get a chance to work on it until today. I'm willing to bet not a lot of people have this one. I've had the LP version for ages and was shocked to see this even got a Q8 release. Oddly enough, the Q8 has no catalog #.
As you can see, it's a very discrete quad mix, though I'm pretty sure there is a channel error. In the picture below I swapped the lefts, which put drums/piano in the fronts, guitar/strings in the rears. The music is hard to classify, but it's instrumental and I'd say it falls towards the easy-listening side.
One thing that sort of disturbs me, and that I've never seen on a Q8 before, is that this tape seems to exhibit some form of print-through. If you listen carefully to the gaps between songs, you can hear a quiet remnant of another track.
I did a little digging online and found that the album is actually called In Classic Form. It seems that for the quad release, they dropped that title and used an alternate cover. What's also interesting is that the LP is encoded in an obscure matrix called "compati-quad", which supposedly can be played back properly using any matrix decoder (SQ, QS, EV-4, DY, etc).
So, has anyone ever seen or heard of this one? It never ceases to amaze me the kind of weird/under-the-radar stuff that got mixed for quad back in the day...
