I'm surprised by the frequency that Sansui QS-D1000's keep popping up for auction. I had seldomly seen any before, and now I've seen
a lot (by comparison) since the summer of 2015. This particular seller is also selling a QSD-1.

The Surround Master did change everything for matrix recordings, making all of the vintage equipment no longer "required", but merely
"collectible" instead. And, Audio Fidelity is taking care of business from the other end of the spectrum. Hoo-ray for them both!!

I would agree that the Surround Master has decreased the need/desirability of the QSD - 1, 2 & 1000. I have compared my three units (all with the blend resisters disabled) in the "synthesize" mode to the Surround Master's and the results are nearly identical. The Surround Master has become my go-to decoder for stereo to surround real time listening. And that is saying a lot since I have 14 other decoders/synthesizers I can switch in & out of my system with just a few switches. (Thank goodness for Russound QT-1's and SP-1's.)

The seller of the QSD-1000 had the same unit up for sale a couple of months ago (unless he had two, unlikely). I placed bids this time on both the QSD-1 and QSD-1000 as well as on an Sony SACD player and a few different preamps. At the last minutes all the sellers auctions were removed with no explanation from eBay! While I didn't expect to win many or any of the auctions, it would be nice to know what happened, did the units get relisted in error or was it a fraud attempt, one usually gets a message that the unit is no longer available so the auction has been cancelled.

A SQD-2 is now up for auction as well as a Photolume unit.

If the US exchange rate would improve I might consider getting a Surround Master, although I'm partial to all analogue circuitry as in the vintage units.
