there are news Supreme Court of Canada scraps royalty for music downloads
that's interesting decision and perhaps right one, as there are lots of unhappy.
anyway, i think good side of such ruling, that artists/producers will less rely on
streaming audio and will put more effort to make physical means of delivery more
attractive as in form of formats, so in sound quality.

"The court essentially said that it shouldn't matter how a copy of work is delivered — whether it is bought in a store, ordered through the mail or downloaded digitally, the same copyright rules should apply."

This is key here. It seems like there was some form of double-dipping applying in Canada which now no longer does. I don't know much about the ins and outs to comment on it, but it seems like this will now expand delivery while lessening what goes to artists. Good for some, bad for others. In the end, "bad for the musicians" is always the most unfortunate outcome, although even that's a double-edged sword. It's more distribution opportunity versus less money in pocket for your efforts.

To root against digital distribution is living in an era which has long passed us by.
