I have recently started building quad sets. I have an interesting system using a Marantz 4270's pre-outs run through a Tascam 34B into 4 Rotel bridged power amps. I have done this, along with some other pre-amps so I can get a suitable record level to copy vinyl to R-R. I know the potential for noise increases, but with a little work, you can make a decent recording.
Just a question, I expect there to be some surface noise on the vinyl, but I have run into a couple of records that have "fatal" skips. When I examine the grooves I can't see any dirt or damage. Does anyone know if this a common problem with quad records, can the be helped by cleaning?
