Big news for Roy Orbison fans.

Here are 3 Stereo DSD Downloads (Crying, In Dreams and Sings Lonely and Blue) from his recordings on Monument Records at Acoustic Sounds. Mastered from the Original Analog Master Tapes by Bernie Grundman and Authored by Gus Skinas at the Super Audio Center. Not available on SACD.

Haven't bought a download in a while now (the vinyl thing has caught my attention lately) but I'm gonna get a couple of these....when I get home tonight.

So, is Sings Lonely and Blue stereo or is it mono? Seems odd the other two are indicated as (stereo) but not this one. The album cover picture says stereo but that doesn't mean anything. Could be re-channeled.

The Acoustic Sounds web site says:

"Foster also took advantage of the album's stereo release to devise a crisp, discreet, 2-channel mix that brought out all of the details of this sound in notably sharp relief, creating one of the earliest stereo rock 'n' roll albums that was actually superior to its mono equivalent. Indeed, Sings Lonely and Blue was among the first rock 'n' roll LPs to attract the interest of serious audiophile enthusiasts."

Listening to the DSD Download of "Sings Lonely and Blue" over headphones here, it's certainly in Stereo. :)

not sure have never downloaded before and thought these were sacd format how would they need to be played back
Thanks
I use a program called jRiver to play the DSF files. You can get a free trial: http://jriver.com/
And you also need a DAC to plug your computer into. I use a Marantz SA8005 Stereo SACD/CD player/DAC (about $1,200).
You could use jRiver to convert the DSF files to some other format, like FLAC or ALAC. If you want to play the music on an iPad the best resolution would be 24/48 ALAC.

The files are Single Rate DSD (DSD 64fs) in .DSF format.

As Cupboy says, you could burn them to a DVD or you could store them on a hard disc drive, USB drive or Network Attached Storage (NAS) device.
You would need to use the Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) feature of your Oppo 103/105 player, digital player, DAC, etc. to play the music files.
