Sony's Blu-Ray/DSD/ASIO VAIO PC

Sony has announced plans to release a product line called Sound Reality VAIO PC by year's end which will include features such as a Blu-Ray Disc Drive, Direct Stream Digital (DSD) recording and editing and Steinberg's ASIO 2.1 support.

And any editing will have to be done using good old PCM, and the conversion to DSD will have to be the final step - which removes any of the supposed advantages of using it in the first place.

It will stay true. There is, so far, no such thing as a ROM drive that can read SACD, and there are no plans at all to develop any such thing either.
Take into consideration Sony adopting MLP into Blu Ray, and I still think that they are getting ready to drop DSD and SACD altogether.

Well, if Sony has a PC with DSD and Blu Ray coming out in December 2005, it looks like they're remaining on board.
