I have a pioneer qx-949a and i was reading the demodulation isn’t too great.
I also am running an sa-9500 as a pre amp
I was thinking that because the 949a doesn’t have the best demodulation then maybe buying a separate decoder would make a nice setup
I could use the sa-9500 for the front speakers and use the qx-949a for the rear
Would this make any sense?
I don’t know how much of an improvement it would make

Hello.

I believe it has a good CD4 demodulator. Had one. No issues.

If you want to upgrade a 949-A, start with an Involve Audio SQ/QS decoder.
