This one finally just got a CD release. (It had been available on Tidal, which I don't use, since December.) It's got a great old-school funk groove to it. Worth checking out.

I was 7 years old, and of course , I did NOT go...but it's interesting that this Festival did happen and many of my favorites were there!!!

Emerson (RIP), Lake & Palmer

"Live at the Mar y Sol Festival" (April 2 1972)

So glad Greg Lake found the 16 track masters of the complete gig and remixed it!!!! (I also have the LP that has never been released on CD which features a couple of songs)

Got it cause, to me, this is the BEST sounding ELP gig , and they were in high spirits (Puerto Rican Rum is awesome ;) ), and it shows..Even Greg was enjoying himself quite a bit...
(I know this was available in a box set but the rest of the gigs there were "approved bootlegs")

The upwards sweeping Moog at the start of Hoedown is missing...I think that the Moogs were acting up with the humidity...

(BTW, Black Sabbath was supposed to be the headliners but , although they DID make it to PR, they couldn't arrive at the site..or so they say....)

Cactus - 'ot & Sweaty (LP & CD)

BTW, Black Sabbath was supposed to be the headliners but , although they DID make it to PR, they couldn't arrive at the site..or so they say....

Sabbath wasn't the only act that was booked that didn't show. Fleetwood Mac was also originally on the bill but didn't make it. The festival was plagued with problems that had many acts cancelling. The promoter was left scrambling to find other acts to fill in for those who cancelled. The photo below, taken at the festival, is of the fist artist who played. He was a total unknown at the time. Anyone recognize him? (Hint, he's from Long Island and he loves you just the way you are! LOL) This concert played a significant role in getting him signed to Columbia Records.

Yup, the Mar Y Sol was the BREAKTHROUGH for him!!!!!
Who'd have thunk??? A festival in PR would be Billy Joel's "Escalator" to fame.... Cool!

Hope he spills some of his stories one day....

Saga

"Generation 13" (1995) CD

I think I'm the only one in this Forum who actually is a Saga "fan"...curious, cause this Forum is very Prog oriented....

They have released about 30 CDs/LPs and they have changed a bit during the 40 years, but their quality is good overall...
A good starting point for the modern version is "20/20"...but for the early stage, it'd be the first LPs up until after "Behaviour"....
Their latest live BluRay is one of the best ever...

Big Big Train - Folklore. A day sooner than expected . It would be nice in 5.1, but the music's the most important thing, and the music from Big Big Train is consistently excellent.
