will the Grado Prestige Gold 1 be ok

Just wondering if the Grado Gold 1 would be adequate for Quad CD-4 reproduction given its frequency range is out to 55kHz.

According to what I have read about this cartridge, it has an elliptical stylus which doesn't work very well for CD-4. Perhaps some other forum members have real world experience with this unit in CD-4 and can share their experiences.

I am using a Grado Prestige red, and it seems to track my CD-4s well.

I guess if the actual frequency response performance is what Grado claims and the separation is adequate up in the ultra sonic range, it should be OK for CD-4.

My only concern would be required VTF and possible increased record wear using an elliptical stylus at that force.

What is the tracking force range for that cartridge?

They recommend 1.5grams .
It is a high compliance cartridge - not as high as the Shure - but works great in an SME 3009 SII Improved arm - bonus .

My Shure V15VxMR tracks at 1.5grms that with the brush attachment.

I use the Grado Gold on a Pioneer PL-L800 feeding a Sansui QRX9001 and the performance is excellent. This is the only setup I have used for CD-4, so my experience may subjective. It sounds good to me.
