I'm curious ubertrout, if you believe Dutton Vocalion's web page should provide a 30 second sample of songs, in order to get a sense (before purchasing) of what an unknown title sounds like?
I guess? It doesn't bother me too much personally - I checked out Braunfels on Spotify for instance before buying Vols. 3 and 4 of his works as part of my order yesterday from Dutton (directly). They didn't have every work in question but I checked out his fantasia on themes from Berlioz and decided I liked his idiom and wanted to hear more. I'll admit the price point is a little high for a blind buy, though, especially given how many choices exist in the classical space, and how obscure some of the repertoire is.

A veritable bagain at Presto Classical but more of an oddity as the original Scott Joplin Score was destroyed in a flood and was lovingly reconstructed and performed by Joplin specialist Gunther Schuller. Also one of DGG's discrete Thomas Mowrey recordings. Those expecting Joplin's intoxicatingly melodic 'rags' might be a bit disappointed but at the asking price of $8.50 for 2 extremely well recorded and performed SACDs ....

It's something I admire more than love, but it's an important recording, done beautifully. It's one of very few releases available in quad on the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress - https://www.loc.gov/item/prn-17-029/

The album features a variety of instruments including the lender and flute. The result of recording in DSD 256 is a vivid sound recording. Reviewers and listeners have suggested this is because of the different Gugaggi elements such as Gayageum can bring totally different sounds depending on the recording equipment that has been used in the recording.

This album featuring our traditional music of the Gugaggi is something you can now enjoy listening to in DSD with all of us."

The result is an audiophile album, recorded in the legendary Muziekcentrum van de Omroep (MCO) Studio 2 in Hilversum, The Netherlands."

Jon, a Native DSD Listener tells us "I just purchased this today. If it is your style of music you will NOT be disappointed. The quality on this one delivers such a smooth listen. It has that satisfyingly rich, full sound." We agree with Jon - fans of funky jazz and soul music will really enjoy this one.

15% off at DeepDiscount with DOGDAYS15

Although only stereo, I love the sound of these Japanese SHM-SACDs
Abbey Road pre-order is $73.94 with the coupon . . . but we've all ordered that mug already, no?
Just used it to order New Blood in 3D by Peter Gabriel though!
Only brings Abbey down to $80 for me, anyway, because of tax. So importcds, at $77 is still the best I've seen (to CA), besides that MAJOR anomally at amazon.ca that one day...

Nah, JP, they usually offer 10% off year round but if you want to buy SACDs MOST of them are not eligible for further discounts including their own AP SACDs.

You seem display resentment against the fine folks from Salina, KS.
Nobody is happy they announce things they can't deliver 🤬, but.. ... play fair. ;)

I have nothing averse to them, except for what you mentioned; actually bought quite a lot over the years. They definitely deserve our support.

I've always played FAIR with Acoustic Sounds and have a rather large collection [well over 150] of their SACDs across ALL genres which I've often commented were stellar sounding but I have noticed in very recent years they do list a lot of their SACDs, including their own and those of MoFi as 'no further discount allowed ...'

You seemed to have lucked out with your five choices [all of which I own on AP SACD with the exception of the Doors which I have as an MLP DVD~A in the Perception Box].

And yes, I, like MANY other posters who have pre~ordered Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced are miffed that they choose to remain silent about it's inordinate delay. They should, IMO, offer some type of explanation in the pre~order info why it has NOT been released after well over a year of waiting.

And I do fully realize that Acoustic Sounds MUCH prefers VINYL over Digital, hands down ..... like reissue company MoFi. And I respect that preference.

Luck had nothing to do with it. ;)
I got lazy and thought that five examples would make my point.

Granted, many desirable surround titles are not discounted, but...
...In point of fact, all of the 11 in-stock AP SACDs are eligible for the discount. 🤷‍♂️
