AUDIOPHILE AUDITION - March 2004 Issue

The 62nd issue of AUDIOPHILE AUDITION - the web magazine for music, audio and home theater - is now online at http://www.audaud.com
Continuing its practice of reviewing more of both new Hi-Res disc formats than any other publication Net or print, this issue has 61 reviews - a record for us! There are also 82 standard CD and DVD reviews, including 11 music DVD video reviews - mostly classical archive performances. In the SACD & DVD-A coverage are the new DVD-A “Tubular Bells,” which is Multichannel Disc of the Month. Also Jim Hall’s “Concierto,” Marian McPartland with Strings, two Jane Monheit releases, two “Trout” Quintets by Schubert, two Mahler symphonies, three Shostakovich symphonies, and a Tchaikovsky Trio in which the performers move about the listening room while playing!

The Feature of the Month is on the acoustics of LA’s new Disney Hall and additions to the Classical Hall of Fame Recordings. Components reviewed are Acoustech’s home theater speaker system, Toshiba’s 27-inch combo TV/DVD/VCR, Lumagen’s Vision Pro Scaler and the Mambo Stereo Integrated Amp from Music Hall. Continuing features are the weekly Audio News, Survey of the Print Audio/HT Publications, Audio Links, and the 2003 Best Discs of the Year List.
