I'm wondering if the DVD layer has generally region code or not.
I bought Miles Davis-Kind of Blue from AMAZON.COM and to my surprise the DVD side didn't play on my DVD player, due to region code 1 (I'm living in Germany and need to have codefree or RC 2 discs, cause my player is not regionfree).
I didn't know that, or is there an excisting thread concerning this subject?

That's a bad news, dvd-a had no code until now.
Now you're stuck with two options:
- to use dvd decrypter and make a copy of the dvd side removing the RC
- to unlock your player RC. Visit http://www.videohelp.com on the section "dvd hacks".

Yes Sony have region coded Kind of Blue but then its not a DVD-A its a DVD-V. Still it just shows how little Sony care about music fans !! :( :(
