If I get one of those LG Blu-Ray/HD-DVD drives for my PC ($250), is there a way to grab the HiRez audio to source a DVD-Audio disc?

I've heard about AnyDVD HD, but from what I read it just copies the entire HD disc to your hard drive. Is it possible to get to the audio.

NOTE: This is for my own personal use to make discs for the car.

THANKS

There's a freeware program that supposedly will do this:

http://madshi.net/eac3to.zip

eac3to v2.22, freeware by madshi.net

- can show information about audio files
- can decode and encode various audio formats
- can remove dialog normalization from AC3, E-AC3, DTS and TrueHD tracks
- can extract AC3 stream from Blu-Ray TrueHD/AC3 tracks
- can extract TrueHD stream from Blu-Ray TrueHD/AC3 tracks
- can extract DTS core from DTS-HD tracks
- can remove DTS zero padding and repair outdated DTS-ES headers
- can apply positive or negative audio delays
- can reduce bitdepth of decoded audio data by using TPDF dithering
- can resample decoded audio data (using "r8brain")
- can apply/reverse PAL speedup on decoded audio data (using "r8brain")
- can demux all video and audio tracks of an EVO/VOB source file
- can join/rebuild multiple EVO/VOB files
- can remux the video track of a EVO/VOB source to Matroska

I tried it but couldn't get it to work - there's a thread on Doom9 but it's already 172 pages and you have to be a real PC geek to follow it all - I just want something easy and simple to use..

Interesting. I ordered one of those LG drives for my PC. I'll have to give it a try at some point. If anyone makes any progress, please report back here in this thread.
