I watched THE LOST CITY last night on Epix with Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt. Other than the mediocre HD streaming presentation, it was quite enjoyable although it was a bit of a stretch imagining Tatum who is 42 as Bullock's love interest [she is 57 and botoxed to the max but actually looks quite good]. LOVED Brad Pitt even though he had a very brief but memorable role. Should look better when it's released in two months in Native UHD4K. Cinematography was excellent as was the surround immersion.

All the recent chatter about Edgar Wright's Last Night in Soho had me revisit this fun run:

What a wild 4K ride this one is! Looks great and the soundtrack and effects are phenomenal!

Finally cracked open my magnificent Criterion Fellini Box set consisting of 14 Fellini films most mastered in 4K [1080p] and watched his classic LA STRADA with his wife Guiletta Masina, Anthony Quinn and Richard Basehart. Superb 4K/1080p transfer of this heartbreaking treasure. I was fortunate to purchase this set brand new from AmazonUS for $112 [that's $8 per disc!!!!!!!]

I recently finished the first volume of Simon Callow's four-volume biography of Orson Welles:

Since this is post #4K (never believed i'd make it!), i thought i'd spend the better part of the day and night with Criterion's stellar 4K release of Citizen Kane. Yeah, it's mono, but–damn!–what a film and what a release!

Freaking insomnia . . . couldn't sleep, so i popped in another Criterion 4K release:

wOw! This is one harrowing ride! If you struggle with addiction of any kind, beware! Looks amazing in 4K and the Dolby Atmos mix (Dolby Digital True HD 7.1 in Clementland) is absolutely revelatory and riveting. I'm not sleeping for some time . . . The Safdie Bros do murder sleep–the innocent sleep,/ Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleave of care,/ The death of each day's life, sore labor's bath,/ Balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course, /Chief nourisher in life's feast,–

Not my type of film but it was announced from: Demnächst:
LIMITED TO 750 PIECES

Undeniably one of the most harrowing films of the 20th century...

Henry is a low profile guy and a psychopathic killer. He roams the country and finds his prey with unerring instinct. For a while he settles in Chicago in the run-down apartment of his ex-prison buddy Otis. Into this toxic environment comes Otis' younger sister Becky, who is fleeing her abusive husband and is looking for a place to stay. She feels attracted to Henry and has no idea that Otis and Henry are now murdering together.

In 1986, John McNaughton created a film that showed the banality of evil in a way never seen before. Thanks to the 4K restoration, Henry's human abysses can now be seen in unprecedented image quality.

Movie Info:
Original title: Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer
Country of production: USA 1986
Directed by John McNaughton
Cast: Michael Rooker, Tracy Arnold, Tom Towles

FSK: No youth release

UHD
Language / Sound: German DTS-HS MA 2.0 (Mono), English DTS-MA 2.0 (Stereo), English DTS-HD MA 5.1
Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1 (2160p24 Ultra HD - with HDR/Dolby Vision)
Subtitles: German, German for the hearing impaired, English, English SDH

I don’t think I can bare watching Raging Bull ever again. Twice was enough.
I haven't seen it since 1980! The one and only time in the movie theater. Man! That was a POWERFUL experience. That last scene really stuck with me. Well, among others, but being the last one in the movie . . . . I think i could sit through it again, now that it's been 42 years! At least the sounds of the fights won't be in surround on the upcoming Criterion release . . . though the visuals will be in "stunningly visceral" 4K UHD! Stay Surrounded, Comrade!
