I had heard that the WEA Group was about to select QS for Quad Discs, but I hadn't read a confirmation.

I recall seeing a few Mobile Fidelity CD-4 discs at a record store in Downtown Des Moines IA in 1973-02
(at that time, Mobile Fidelity was recording/releasing albums of Train Sounds etc., not remasters).

I didn't know at that time that the WEA Group had selected CD-4, I was surprised to see CD-4 records that
weren't on an RCA (affiliated) label.

Brian might have more info on this, but I always heard that it was Mobile Fidelity's Brad Miller that swayed WEA from QS to CD-4. Mobile Fidelity's early train and sound effects records were on WB as CD-4 Quadradiscs until Brad moved them to his Soundbird label a year or so later.

BTW - There is some great quad articles in that particular issue of Billboard.
