One of my favorite ways to unwind, surround wise, is with an 80s Hits playlist I’ve curated (50+ songs, and always looking for more).
So, while I have the 80s on my mind, and in case anyone wants to jump in with their faves, here are my ten favorite 80s hits in surround — I’m taking into account both the quality of the song and the quality of the mix. I’m also keeping the list to actual hits which, since I’m in the U.S., I’m defining as stuff that made the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In chronological order:
Queen - Another One Bites The Dust (#1, 1980)
Blondie - Call Me (#1, 1980) - Tidal Atmos downmix to 5.1
Steely Dan - Hey Nineteen (#10, 1980)
Fleetwood Mac- Gypsy (#12, 1982)
Toto - Africa (#1, 1983)
Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing (#3, 1983)
Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World (#1, 1984)
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer (#1, 1986)
Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine - Rhythm Is Gonna Get You (#5, 1987)
Guns N’ Roses - Welcome To The Jungle (#7, 1988)
