Opeth is one of my favorite bands. It’s a shame that the production on their latest album Sorceress sucked so bad. Have yet to even listen to it all the way through it’s so bad!

UK - Night After Night LIVE!; BDA DTS-HD MA 5.1
For this second listen, I bumped my sub and surrounds a notch. This one is really growing on me. I'd only previously been exposed to the Holdsworth/Bruford version of UK and as a big fan of both, I'm surprised how much I'm digging this version of the band.

The surround mix is actually quite good for a live recording although it's a bit strange to my ear. Jobson's keys are concentrated in the front stage and along the left wall to the LR surround with Bozzio's kit essentially mirrored on the right side. As strange as that might seem, it works pretty damn well and provides a fairly immersive mix. Kudos to Clearmountain for being able to extract this level of mix and instrumental clarity from a live '79 recording by a three piece!!!
