What is your signal chain? I just turn my TV off and it plays no problem.
With my Pioneer for SACD and DVD-A it starts cutting off and on when the TV is off, so I just quickly go into the receivers set-up and select HDMI MONITOR to OFF. With the Blu-ray Audio from the PS3 I don't have to do this, it keeps playing no problems.

I'm running a Panasonic Blu-ray player and Pioneer DVD-A/SACD player through a Yamaha Receiver (RX-V565) to a Panasonic plasma. HDMI end-to-end. I saw that the Yamaha had a setting like that and had planned to try it, but found it easier to whine on a forum.

I'll give that setting a try tonight. Do you have to turn it off and on each time you want to listen to a surround sound disc with no video?

Yes, but only if it's DVD-A or SACD.
With Blu-ray I have no issues with the TV being turned off.

Listening to this for the first time in a very long time. A nice album with loads of things going on. Great electronic music. A pity Trent and Atticus have not released theor more recent albums in surround.
