Art Pepper - The Complete Tokyo Concert 1979 SACD (4 discs)

Quad Forum folks, you have missed this. Released in 2022, Tower Records Japan exclusive. Did a bit of web sleuthing and found a few references that this is not only stereo but also 5.1 SACD!

Its available via proxy order with shipping to the U.S. Just ordered it!

Quite a find, Steve. Wonder how this release slipped under the radar. Even HRAudio.net the SACD specialists list it as STEREO and provide no reader comments nor links.

IMO, it probably only has ambient rears.

If you don't mind my asking, what was your final tab @ CDJapan for the set with the proxy/s/h charges applied. I just blew all my CDJapan bonus points on my last order!

Would love for you to share your comments when you receive the set.

I ordered thru WorldShopping as previously someone on this form mentioned that shipping might be less w them! Whereas CDJapan charges your credit card for estimated shipping, which would’ve brought the total to about $98, WorldShopping has so far charged me $72 plus and in a few days will charge me the actual shipping

I'm sure it will sound exquisite, Steve. Love Art Pepper too. Just had a hassle ordering from Tower Records, Japan and tried to secure payment though my Amazonpay account. And be aware they also impose US Sales tax on foreign orders now! YUK!

There is a statement when you order through world shopping US sales tax may be imposed. However., they didn’t charge me so far for everything but shipping and no sales tax was imposed. I suspect this language is there to cover themselves, and because US sales tax might be charged, depending upon the amount of the transaction or if a commercial customer is involved

You could also see it on the pictures of the SACD cases where it states "Stereo" and no mention of "Multichannel". Some misinterpret "Hybrid SACD" being Stereo and Multichannel. Some are but most don't.

Yea - all the web links I posted only show the front cover, not the back cover which I'm sure doesn't mantion multi-channel or 5.1 as you say. And "Hybrid SACD" is well understood to be defined as stereo SACD plus CD layers. Yet occasionally someone gets it wrong. Just like on occasion a listing states "DVD Audio" but its not MLP lossless and only lossy Dolby Digital.

I have the Art Pepper - Tokyo Encore CD, which is excerpts from this set(?). One of my favorite Art Pepper live CD's.
Cables is just amazing
