Saw/heard Dr. John once at Navy Pier and once at Ravinia.

It occurs to me that as a boy growing up in rural central PA, where we only had a couple radio stations which were very safe in their song selection, that Dr John and Leon Redbone may have been the first two artists who helped me to realize that there is life beyond the top 40. Now they've both gone in the same week. I know my world wouldn't have been the same without them.

Carson had the two of them on to perform Makin' Whoopee. He had them on the couch after they performed and seemed to be thinking, "where the hell did these two come from?"

I don't recall any other musicians sitting on Johnny's couch after that.

Is that in surround? I couldn't find that any of his stuff had quad mixes back in the day (though the material would have been well suited to that treatment).
