Her biggest scenes surround Paul and his trials; the reverand mother, the attack, the fremen duel. I would suggest she is a concerned mother rather than a crybaby.

The issue of the dialogue being too low to hear is noted in this review on sound and vision so it wasn't our imaginations or our equipment.

"The Dolby Atmos (Dolby TrueHD 7.1 compatible) soundtrack is a reference mix that hits from the opening with Zimmer's percussive score surrounding you in various channels and punching hard in the lower frequencies. Height effects are evident in "The Voice," a sort of otherworldly voice-of-God, and the Ornithopters that fly overhead. There are some spots where dialogue level can drop a little below that of the sound effects, but this is an artistic choice (kind of like what Christopher Nolan is fond of doing throughout the entirety of his films). "

Purchased Dune 4K a few weeks thanks to a tip from @Snood. Finally watched it last night. WOW!

Even though my system is only 5.1, this may be the most enveloping and atmospheric movie soundtrack I’ve ever experienced. Additionally, Hans Zimmer’s score is a force of nature. The LFE content is reference quality and really adds to the visceral impact. WOW!
