Jazz saxophonist Leonardo "Gato" Barbieri died on Saturday at age 83.

I absolutely love this man's work!

Had the pleasure of seeing/hearing him live in the late '90's. It was at the Iridium in Manhattan when it was in its' old location in the basement of the Empire Hotel across from Lincoln Center. He peppered his playing with shots of "hey" and "oh!" His chops were as great as ever.

There will never be another "cat" as cool as this one!
