IIRC when they first remastered Green Day's albums they IMPROVED the DR...a welcome surprise!

Supposedly an Atmos mix of “American Idiot” was completed some time ago and for whatever reason has never been released.
“The first album Lord-Alge remixed for the Dolby Atmos format in his new room was Green Day’s American Idiot, recorded at Ocean Way Studio B in Hollywood. That album, originally released in 2004, went on to be certified six times platinum and won The Grammy for Record of the Year.”

Next year is the 20th anniversary. Perhaps we'll hear it then?
I personally love this record. Pretty ambitious for a punk band. The stereo mix always sounded congested to me and really broke up when you cranked it. A well done Atmos mix could make this record sound huge.
