My name is Trevor. I’m originally from London, England, but moved permanently to São Paulo 2 years ago to remarry and retire. I’m 66 years old and in 1976 did my BSc thesis at Imperial College, London, in quadraphonics, which involved a thorough and derailed examination and comparison between SQ, QS and CD-4. I did not include UD-4 or ambiosonics though I did talk to proponents and designers of those formats. I visited Sony, JVC, Abbey Road Studios, and EMI Records who gave considerable help. I also had, and still have, a significant collection of mint quadraphonic LPs in various formats (eg Santana, Pink Floyd, America, Steely Dan, etc). I also used to have a few quadraphonic 8 track cartridges with Santana music! then went into audio retail selling high end equipment, generally Linn, Naim, and Rega and had a Naim 250 tri-amp system. Nowadays I’m into hi resolution downloads but still interested in quadraphonics which I see is making a comeback via SACD. I am also a drummer of 65 years and friends with Dr Patrick Gleason of Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi band. Patrick was wholly responsible for the amazing production of Mwandishi, Crossings, and Sextant.
