Jochum's extremely laid back 70s version from an SQ encoded CD conversion I did way back in Madrid about 10 years ago....

vs. Sir Simon Rattle's version on BD (or its download FLAC equivalent)

Obviously the latter has some scrumptious sonics but the Jochum one has a better soundstage...

Kap, I've recently been listening to this brilliant set of Beethoven's 9 symphonies from the Berliner Philharmoniker performed by various conductors. It's really exquisite and quite a bargain at 9 Multi~CH SACDs for $41 @ ImportCD [plus their 10% off through June 17th] And despite ImportCD's error, it does include ALL nine symphonies!
