I have some Atmos .mkv's which are driving me nuts as one is around 15dB down, another is about 10dB down, so turned it up, then I put on a disc, forgot about the level change, and practically blew my ears off

I'll have to play with the settings on my X8500HA and hopefully it'll be better.

I've done the same.

I nearly killed my system playing some low vol DDP Atmos streams with my system volume right up, then switched to TrueHD and WHAM!! (I have 400W amps on my 5 mains). Scared the shit out of me!

I have a theory - only a theory - that different AV receivers may be treating dialnorm "off" differently... some as dialnorm "-31" and some as something disturbingly quieter.

That’s now fact based on posts earlier today here on QQ.

For the IAA Atmos releases, I always encode at -31.
