In 1977, a CBS-sponsored demonstration of the Scheiber SQ-optimized prototype "360° Spatial Decoder”...separation was absolute and complete (you could even stand outside the area of the four loudspeakers and still distinguish easily among the sounds coming from the different speakers)

The Scheiber 360 decoder

How does it compare to other SQ logic directed decoders?

(IMHO) too bad CBS didn't work to get this decoder design converted to few ICs (as the CD-4 and QS proponents did for their systems by ~1974).

I noticed that while drooling over your impressive collection in the past, rustyandi. You are only the second source of photographs for this unit I've ever come across. I've likewise been intrigued about how it measures up against, say the Fosgate Tate or the Space and Image Composer. And, how many may have ever been made.
