Reel recommendations?

I'm totally new to the reel thing. Anyone have some good leads on brands of tape and where to buy it?

The guy I bought my deck from gave me several NOS Scotch reels, but I'm not satisfied with the sound I'm getting from them. I'm sure the deck still needs some cleaning up, though I have cleaned the heads. But I'm also a little worried about using tape this old even if it hasn't been opened.

P.S. They have alot of good stuff, not just tape , like empty reels, leader tape, splice tape, and blocks, and alot more! worth looking into!
