I keep following threads on this bluray release but it seems to take forever until someone actually have listened to the disc. PLEASE report back on how it sounds NOW :phones

Been listening to it for the last hour. Sounds really good to me. Can't say I hear much improvement over the ABKCO SACDs but it's nice to have 50 tracks collected on one disc for $20. It's also nice to get the best songs from the later, patchy albums without having to shell out for the Japanese SHM SACDs.

So which sounds the best? I'd go with LPCM myself. Less processing.

I wonder if there really would be any perceptible difference between the 3 streams..!?

Factoring in most people's systems (and hearing) etc.. I dunno if it makes much odds.. most likely the stream choices are there to give the end user as many useful options to play the material back as poss. cynical me would say they also flesh out the disc and make it appear the end user is getting a great deal! "Look Ma, 3 streams!" :p

Bit curious if these are straight dupes of the old Sa-CD's, which were mastered to DSD from the original tapes.. and so what could have occurred in the chain from DSD to PCM (et al..).. if anything!

Ultimately this is a great release, just lacking one thing, for me -- SURROUND.

Ha! It's the 5-finger shuffle baby owwwww..!!!

I just got mine yesterday through Amazon uk. ordered it on the 5th here on there 11th. i do have the 3 cd package as well. i think the blu ray sounds better. i hope this trend continues.

I don't have the stamina to listen to all 50 tracks while standing on my head.

Whoops! That's the problem with taking photos on the iPad. Nothing is ever upside down until you email or post something. It didn't even appear as upside down in the post until I logged in on my laptop. Annoying...

Okay I give up. I emailed the pic to my laptop and it looked to be oriented correctly. Posted it. It's upside down. Took the photo into an editing program and flipped it. Saved it. Posted it. It's upside down. I guess this picture just wants to stand on it's head. LOL

maybe if you tried to post upside down on purpose... might work

I've had this issue too. This is how I get around it.

1) Open the picture in an editor.
2) Open a blank jpg of the same dimensions as a new document
3) Copy the entire original [Select All, Copy]
4) Paste into the new blank document
5) Rotate the copied graphic in the editor
6) Merge All
7) Save file

Not sure why this happens with iPhone pictures, but the original picture will always remain upside down, even after you futz with it. Sorta like a DVD-A watermark! :)

I like the sound on this but the dts and DD mixes cause problems on my Panasonic Blu-ray player: both the mixes put the sound out of the centre speaker as well as the front stereo ones and the dts mix also keeps cutting out as though the disc is skipping. Luckily the PCM mix plays fine. I also tried the disc on my PS3 and all three mixes seem to play fine so I guess there just must be some compatibility issue with my Panasonic.

I was kind of surprised that the mix of "Brown Sugar" that is used seems to be pretty heavily distorted on the opening guitar parts which was something that I thought had been resolved for the SACD re-issues onwards (or maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention when I last played them).

Thanks for the tips, Jon!
