Hi All,
Some of you may have caught that there is a Three Blind Mice reissue campaign underway. The first 3 albums will be released on FEB 28, 2024, and are available to pre-order from CD Japan, Tower etc. The two photos reveal which albums are coming up.

Here's what else I have heard:
  • Stereo only - LP and SACD, Remastered by Bernie Grundman. 180Gms for the LPs
  • Standard / SACD Jewel case i.e. not the Mini LP packaging from the previous campaign
  • The reissues will be offered in 4 batches over the course of 2024 (FEB, JUNE, OCT) and 2025 (TBD)

Enjoy!

Surprised they're not including any Stereo SACD Transfers! I have the 3 Blind Mice MISTY release on Stereo SACD and it sounds exquisite!

Hi @4-earredwonder , not sure I understand your comment re: Stereo SACD transfers.

And that said, I simply used an online translator to decipher some of this, so who's to say what the poster actually means ;)
It does state that the reissues will be LP and CD only
Very interesting catch. The first 3 reissues were posted as SACDs on CDJapan. Example: Mine [SACD Hybrid] Mine Kosuke Quintet SACD

Which is why I completely ignored the lack of "SACD" mention on image one. But if you look at the second image, there is a definite reference.

I do have a few on Stereo SACD and the sonics and performances are superb. And via the new SACD reissues...the prices are GREAT

Really well priced for sure! I have obsessively collected most of the albums from the last campaign (with the mini LP packaging). Paid through the nose for 1 of them. There might be a few folks here like that - you know, the kind who just have to complete a collection ;)

What I've heard is that even the normal CD's sound great and that there might be no need for a SACD sound wise.

Since they're hybrid Stereo SACDs and it's stated that Bernie Grundman remastered both the CD and SACD layers, my ultimate bet would be on the SACD since it's also priced under $19US. I should have mine by the end of the month from CDJapan and will comment!

But for those who'd like to sample the Three Blind Mice label, this 2 disc RBCD compilation is available from CD Japan:

I personally would also go for SACD when even possible. But there's also a bunch of CD's out there maybe not being released on SACD. It's the 1500 (Yen) Series for about 10$ each i.e.:

I am going to get some myself along with the SACD's!

I personally have an SACD where Grundman has mastered both the CD layer and the SACD layer, and the CD layer is brickwalled while the SACD layer is not...so, take that for what it's worth. From what I remember, Sony likes to compress their CD layers a bit...
