There is a show I watch called Rock Icons...it features various artists...in a recent segment they had Ann Wilson...now I have loved Heart from an early age and always felt they didn't get enough credit...here is a clip from 2012 that shows the vocal range Ann is still capable of..

Agreed. I've been a fan since the very beginning as well. The material they did during the Roger Fisher era of the band is still incredible.

On the subject of Heart, has anyone else noticed that on the Crowded House DVD-A, there is a space on the menu where upcoming titles from Capitol are listed. Dreamboat Annie is on the list. Is it another album that got a 5.1 mix but was then shelved when the labels los interest in surround? The album would be amazing in surround.

Thanks Clint for posting that gem. That was fantastic!

Jimmy was really diggin' it. Robert seemed more reflective. Maybe he was thinking... christ al'mighty, she sings it better than I do. LOL!

That's a hard cover song to do it that well...at that time(2012)she was 62 years old.... and to have the ability to hold the notes that long is amazing...I still get goosebumps when I hear Magic Man...she has overcome cocaine and alcohol problems and has been sober since 2009...when Heart started they had to overcome a lot of obstacles being a female led band in the male dominated rock genre..but they made it...

Very cool Kap'n!...thanks for posting that:phones

YOU ARE VERY WELCOME!!! :smokin

Had to share it!
I'd say it's my favorite part of the show...even when the show SUCKS, you always get this ... lagniappe...

Couldn't resist it and figured out the bass part, and it's basically a BLUES in A...a Waltz would be 3/4 and this is 6/8...very tricky time signature changes too...sounds simple , BUT IT AIN'T!!!

Well, the wife and I are headed for vacation tomorrow evening. First part of our trip will be in northern Georgia. We have a cabin in the mountains...very secluded. I suspect I will listen to some quiet, solitude music..... (not really mountains...but some nice forest and hills)

Then after 4 days, we head on down to the Gulf Coast. Navarro Beach on Santa Rosa Island (Florida). I KNOW, I'll be listening to a LOT of this...

Well, if you're heading through the Atlanta area I'll be playing with a Jimmy Buffett tribute band on Saturday at Lake Lanier. :)

Uh oh...you said the magic word to Gos...Jimmy Buffett...don't be surprised if the "family truckster" makes a detour to your location..here is his new trip planner

Whoa....that's really close to where we will be staying I think....our cabin is a few miles from Cheery Log.

Some birthday wishes today go out for Carlos Santana who turns 68 today..and Kim Carnes who is 70.....and speaking of Carnes...I have always loved this song

and speaking of Carnes...I have always loved this song

I spent the weekend digitizing a couple reels of music performances from 1981 TV shows (SNL, "Fridays", even a few genuine live bits from "Solid Gold"). Kim Carnes' "Fridays" appearance was one of them, which made me look her up. I was shocked to see that she was going to turn 70 today! When I mentioned it to a friend, he reminded me that "Bette Davis Eyes" was originally recorded in 1974 by Jackie DeShannon, so I had to search Tidal to see if they had it. Yup! Man, what a WILDLY different version! Wikipedia calls it "R&B Lite" but to my ears it's closer to country! More exclamation points!!!

I just added this one yesterday 002.JPG

Listening to the Charles Mingus(Mingus Ah UM) 20 bit remasteredCD....sound quality is very good on this one.... and he really jams...recorded in 1959 so there are a few audio "warts" from the original sessions...doesn't detract from the overall sound of the disc...there are several CD versions of this album...you want the 20 bit remastered version like this one...you want bar code 5099706551225...
