Here's the other June 2 release
Looks like someone else already discovered this release a few days ago since it's listed in the Joe Cocker thread, but nobody found the Doors release until today.
Its this....Snood ordered
Keep them coming AF :snoodhug:
Although wondering what the other one might be since they releasing them in 2s
Imagine the sales on this Joe Cocker title are gonna be a bit of a let down.
Yes, well, others know more about it, but the Joe Cocker original Quad Master is lost, at least at this time, I believe. A Q8 Quad transfer could have been done and put there, but there is a bit of controversy about whether conversions should be sold or not on a "Official" release. Also, the mix is supposedly not that stellar, maybe not even real Quad, but it is still a historic Quad release/recording IMHO.
Personally, I feel neutral about if conversions should be on re-releases, sort of leaning 51-49 in favor of conversions being there, maybe, perhaps, I don't know. It depends on situation and mix/title one would suppose.
Universal does not have the Quad Master Tapes for the Joe Cocker. AF listened to the Q8 copy of the album - I did as well. Pretty dreadful sound quality. Definitely not something you would release. So we have a Stereo SACD release. That's the way it goes in some cases.

I agree 100%. Marshall asked me as well and after the nightmare with the Rick Wakemans, my advice was STEER CLEAR of any conversions of a Q8. It's not like the Q8 was a show piece to begin with. When I gave Marshall the link to the article about the guy who "created" the A&M quad mixes (or most of them), he was shocked. He knew the guy. (I won't say any more). Needless to say, there was no way that AF was going to release something that was not up to their standards. Not even CLOSE to their standards.
