Hurriganes Roadrunner in 5.1 SACD Surround

An unusual 5.1 SACD Surround Sound release just came out in Europe.

Roadrunner by the Hurriganes is a 30th Anniversary Edition that was remixed and remastered for CD and SACD release in 2004. But the SACD part of that release just arrived in late September in Finland and will be out next week in Germany and other parts of Europe.

It's a '60s and '70s style rock album in Surround that includes band originals and some pop tunes. Makes you wonder what else is still in the vaults awaiting release !

Brian, I was going to ask if you had ever heard of this group before but I read your write up at High Fidelity Review and as I expected you hadn't either. I couldn't find any snippets of music to listen to online at my usual sites.

Apparently the group is well known in Finland. It's a fun SACD with their rock take on some '60s favorites.

I bought this release from the finnish site www.lovemusic.fi when I saw the release at www.sa-cd.net. The finnish site is easily navigated using english and offers global mail delivery for a reasonable price. I received a carefully packed sacd in a few days.

The music to me is american rock from the 50s with a sound from the 70s. For this rather simple music I prefer the stereo mix for the multichannel mix which I think is more unique for this kind of music, than it is effective.

Yes, that's the group alright on You Tube. Several of those clips are the songs on this album/SACD.
