So - peter gabriel - single layer SACD
https://www.discogs.com/Peter-Gabriel-So/release/3159367 -Amazing sound quality, and the textural landscapes on this album never sounded any richer with the immersive yet discrete treatment by the Surround Master v2.

This should be a demo disc for Involve; it's that great!

Naturally after reading this I poked around for the SACD. Cheapest I can find is $85 and no HD downloads. SO I guess I'll stick with my original issue CD. If I can find it. That's the hard part.

Perhaps it's common knowledge but the Sledgehammer video was remastered in 4k available only on Apple music as far as I know. That leaves me out but maybe someone else could report on it.

Some of the better known songs are in surround on the Play the videos DVD-V and sound great, but I was just as engaged on the little or lesser known songs on So, the Surround Master just opens it all up nicely!

Quite a few years ago I read about the Play the Videos & promptly forgot about it. Just now ordered from Amazon! Thanks to all you enablers on QQ!

That you are, Pupsta 🐶 ... just twisted my arm to spend $71 on the Tower Record's Japanese ECM Stereo SACD of Pat Metheny's TRAVELS....but then again, it IS two SACDs!

Pat Metheny Group

Looking on Ebay, I could only find the word STEREO down in the lower LH corner. So this is not multichannel?

if like me you love ol' EJ and have been pining all these years for those remaining unreleased 5.1 SACDs of Caribou, Don't Shoot Me.., Rock Of The Westies and Blue Moves.. i have some good news for you! i urge you, run (don't walk!) to your shelves, pull out this lil' number from '75 and run it through your Surround Masters in Involve mode --- it sounds sensational..!!! :rocks

No, it's stereo, as soon as it arrives (slow boat from Japan) it'll have a run through the SMv2, and hopefully post positive results. Pat's "Bright Size Life" another ECM Tower SACD is an amazing sounding title on my short list to hit the Matrix - Red pill or Blue Pill?

It's time for a Sansui vs. SMv2 - SHOOT - OUT
CORRAL.jpg

I ran some titles through my Sansui QRX-8001 and switched with the help of a Zektor to the SMv2. The SMv2 was set at 12 o'clock for the settings. The Sansui built in modes used were QS Synthesizer - Hall, Surround & just QS. The SMv2 was driven by the Sansui amp using CD-4 Direct position. Without getting into the minutia of each title's sound, I'll generalize my thoughts, since they were similar for all the titles compared.

Here are the 6 titles that were in the Shoot- Out.

* - In every instance the Surround Master v2 had a more detailed, discrete and balanced sound. The Sansui seemed to focus most of the action in the rears with the occasional discrete action, but appeared to be lacking in every area compared to the Surround Master.

Surprisingly, the closet the Sansui got was in the QS Synth. Hall mode, but still was a little weak in the fronts; overall detail was better there than the other modes, but just couldn't keep up with the SMv2.

More detailed analysis will follow in a follow up post as I get more familiar with the material and settings.

Just trying to keep it straight. The only QS you played was Ponta Murakami? No SQ? And the rest was stereo, right?

Looking forward to details stay cool turn on a fan.
