LP's from over the weekend:

Girl Watcher - The O'Kaysions

Open - Blues Image

The Aristocrats - Culture Clash. This is a barn burner of an album that amazing hit the Jazz album charts this week.

The band includes bassist Bryan Beller on bass along with Marco Minneman on drums and Guthrie Guvan on guitar. Seems to me tha Marco and Guthrie were holding back somewhat with their roles with Steven Wilson's band. Not so here! This trio format rocks hard.

my copy arrives tomorrow - very much looking forward. They are amazing players who do amazing things seemingly without effort. The live DVD, "Boing Live" is highly entertaining and woefully underappreciated - it deserves much more attention.

SAGA Heads or tales LP -Portrait USA original pressing, still in shrink and with hype sticker,,,,has a bit of paper scuffing, but no scratches...a bit dusty too...

Culture-Clash-Front-Cover.jpgvigil.jpg

The Aristocrats - "Culture Clash" - more jaw dropping virtuousity from Guthrie Govan, Marco Minneman and Bryan Beller - if only this were 5.1!

Chick Corea -"The Vigil" - saw Chick and The Vigil (feat. Christian McBride on bass and Tim Garland on woodwinds) last weekend at The Infinity Music Hall in NW CT (great venue) - Chick is amazing - still making ferocious and adventurous new music with a band of great young players - always amazing!

Surely something in here to please everyone. My latest LP acquisitions since July, some were bulk buys (like the AP albums were all for 7 bucks). This brings me up to almost 600 LPs. Most are pretty minty!

Do reel to reel tapes apply here as well. If so then
Canned Heat. Boggie With.
Quicksilver Messenger Service. Just for Love.
Both of these were 7.5 IPS. The Canned heat had some hiss but sounded good. The QMS tape was sealed and sounded great. I did not really want to open it but gave in on Saturday night after a couple of beers. Fresh Air never sounded so good. Tape was very well preserved due to it being sealed. Strange that I never purchased this on disc. I have all the others.
Phil.
