OK, just did a search....Ann Wilson is on Friday at 9 Central....Nugent is Sunday...as well as Geddy Lee. Again, this is Dish Network...
I usually just use the guide instead of search functions on directv...but those are the times...good idea about the series...I might just do that...

Dang dude.....I'm checking Palladia on my Dish for tonight...there is no such schedule about Rock Icons. At PM Central, is Jools Holland, then at 10 Central is MTV World STage...then Live from Daryl's House.

LOL..I just noticed my mistake..I said tonight in the post instead of Friday night...

I was interested to see that B.B. King's favorite singer was Frank Sinatra...who he credited with getting black entertainers involved in the music business...

Lenny Welch is 77 today...HAPPY BIRTHDAY...for those who don't know the name...you might know his biggest hit song...used in movies and commercials...the silky smooth voice..a little Sam Cooke in that voice IMO

Mike Oldfield is 62 today...HAPPY BIRTHDAY...my first encounter with his music was in a movie theater watching the Exorcist...which scared the crap out of me...and Tubular Bells fit perfectly in that movie

hard to imagine that this was written and performed nearly half century ago.
in so many instances they were way ahead of "modern" trends of their time.
unbelievable how much unappreciated their contribution into prog.rock.

I've been seeing some good music based segments on tv lately...Rock Icon shows(Palladia channel) about Ted Nugent...Geddy Lee...and Ann Wilson of Heart...plus Kansas:Miracles Out of Nowhere ..and one that was on Showtime...Lost Songs:The Basement Tapes Continued...which was an interesting project with some musicians using some lyrics from the Bob Dylan Basement Tapes collection..and trying to mimic how they were done by some artists getting together that had never played as a band with each other...here is a description of the show

During the Showtime documentary one artist stood out....her voice was just so impressive...her name is Rhiannon Giddens

another, rather not forgotten but never were known in north america prog rock band of late 70s - early 80s.
perhaps partly for being german band, partly for being in shadows of the rise at that time the brit prog act Marillion.
at that lineup they had amazing drummer Jurgen Rosenthal, who also contributed lyrics to most successful band albums.

I like it. Sounds excellent.
yep, they have quite nice albums. beautiful melodies combining with very well done music arrangement and good musicianship,
makes them very appropriate candidate for surround sound.
well, at least hypothetically, because who will bother with, if there are Labelle and Beach Boys.
