Hey Ralph @4-earredwonder ; I recently picked up this SACD of Coleman Hawkins, and I'm casually listening to it on my computer CD layer, but it's a dual layer with stereo and multichannel (supposedly) layers.

To me (and given the age of the music) it sounds like mono. The company putting this out is a German company called "Membran Ltd." I've had some of their other MC SACDs that I believe to be mono from early rock like this ONE

Do you have any experience with this label and SACDs???

JP, I have about 25 Membran Jazz and Classical albums and IMO, every one is eminently listenable if you accept the fact they've been 'repurposed' for surround. The Classical selections are mostly original DDD recordings but the sound on some is amazing with ambient rears [like MOST modern Classical recordings].

If you can find them on the cheap, do not hesitate to buy them as from time to time, I return to them as none of them are in any way poor performances. By playing them in Stereo you might get a better perspectve [like a lot of the Silverline 'repurposed for stereo recordings'] of how they were originally recorded.

A complete list of Membran mch SACDs from HRAudio.net:

As a rule of thumb: When accessing the links, the MORE expensive a selection is usually indicates better performances and sound quality.
