I guess they not called The Great Jazz Trio for nothin' (ah, double negatives). I read Robert C. Lang's review HERE (it's the second one on the page--the
L O N G one!), and I had to find this disc:

found on amazon for $22.78 using the @edisonbaggins Life in Surround search method (patience . . .)

Lang nails it, comrades! But not quite as powerfully as The Great Jazz Trio nail it!

And Clement......let's not forget the equally delightful companion mch SACD https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-lis...d_used_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&condition=used&qid=&sr=

Just in from Japan Mo' Bop - If you like Pat Metheny / Mike Stern / Yellowjackets; you'll probably like this one with good discrete 5.1 surround.
* However please note: Only 4 of the ten tracks are in surround!

Nice find, Pupster, but the only caveat: When you play these random surround discs [4 cuts only] in surround, the OPPO will only play those four surround cuts and then you have to reprogram it to play the stereo portion. Had the same problem with D~Vs Surround/Stereo SACDs that have the first album in surround and then the second in STEREO. Unless I'm doing something wrong with programming the OPPO.

HELP!

Nope, that's about right on Ralphie- very weird that the tracks are mixed also 😮

P.S. @4-earredwonder - Have you got any Coleman Hawkins titles you really like (and of course any in surround?)

The only Coleman Hawkins SACD available in [pseudo] Surround is this one https://www.amazon.com/Supreme-Jazz...=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B000F5GOZU I was pleasantly surprised at the remastered sound from this series of German mch SACDs and have quite a few but used to pay between $6~8 for THIS series ......Ubertrout, OTOH, bought a bunch for $2 each back in the day ...... Lucky HIM!

The rest according to HRAudio.net are STEREO SACDs and I do have some of those from Analogue Productions'/MoFi: https://www.hraudio.net/search.php?format=0&keywords=coleman+hawkins

This one especially comes recommended: https://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=9085

Thanks for the research; yeah wasn't expecting much given the era of the 50's and 60's. Was hoping for a Night Hawk in hi-def.

I'm listening to this one tonight with dinner (Roasted veggies with Donkey Dick ...er Polska Kielbasa); sorta that same 3 channel type thing goin' on.

or roasted [uncircumsized] donkey dick w/veggies. Sounds appetitizing 🐶 with Getz playing in the background. Some Enchanted Evening :ROFLMAO:

And we're back to the Audio Fidelity Must Hears. I have exponentially increased my collection (and there's an interesting negative correlation with my savings . . .) since finding QQ. It is thanks to all of the great posts by all the great QQers. Ultimately, for me the greatest resource is the polls. Over time, I have managed to find all of the top 100 titles EXCEPT for Ship Ahoy by the O'Jays. The SOUL section is the first one I head to whenever I'm in a brick and mortar story. I was lucky enough to find 3 + 3 in Japan, but I've resigned myself to being sans O'Jays. Lord knows I have plenty of absolutely amazing discs to carry me through, even if I have another 59 years in the ol' tank. Any hoo, you know how clicking on links can sometimes lead to unexpected joy. Well, I found some posts on this release:

Various The Collection An Adventure In Sound

and damned if a cut from Ship Ahoy isn't on it! Holy Ship! I am still resigned to never owning the disc, but it sure is a blessing to experience "For the Love of Money"! And there is so much more to enjoy on this disc. I feel very fortunate to have found this one. Thanks, comrades!

Ah, nice one Clement, remember fondly watching Omar Hakim way back on Sanborn’s “Night Music” show as the house drummer. Certainly one of the greatest music shows ever to appear on TV! That series desperately deserves a digital release.
