 Nooooooo Karaokeeeee…………. one of the local pubs has it periodically.........….so I think of caterwauling, chalk on a blackboard...…… :)

haha.. depends how good they are.. the croakies i go to are more like shows with all the drag queens, cabaret artistes and west end wendys we get ;)

So - knowing there is so much music you want......would you go for the name brand albums by the artists...or would you go for the kill for greatest hits type packages?

That's a good question...usually I would seek out the older CDs...because they haven't been remastered to death and DR numbers are good...BUT there are some recent developments that might prove to be significant in the future...we have seen Steven Wilson do the Chicago CD...not a hi rez product...and now we have this greatest hits 3 CD package mixed by Elliot Scheiner...and it has 60 songs on it...and only about a dozen that I don't care for....and the VALUE of this offering is one of the best I have ever seen...the fact the Elliot would do this type of project and Steven already has done one opens the possibility that both may do more of these projects in the future....and if the hi rez projects "dry up"...they both could be working on similar projects again...I know there was a lot of consternation on here when Steven did the Chicago project...the feeling being that he could be working on some surround project instead...but I thought it was great....and to be candid...he received more recognition on that Chicago job that many of his progressive surround titles...and Rhino was smart to put his name out in front for everyone to see...

To answer your question...I'd do both...greatest hits and individual albums...some albums are like a greatest hits package...usually the greatest hits discs don't sound as good...unless you get lucky with a Steven Wilson or Elliot Scheiner mix...

love that Nightbirds AF Quad SACD... if you can believe it, their other Quad (Phoenix) is even better, both as an album and as a surround mix, the opener of Side 1 (The Amazing Flight Of A Lone Star) is.. sensational, nay, EPIC! :SB
Adam, I have been hoping... dare I say PRAYING FOR “Phoenix” in Quad. But I had no idea that its Quad mix was even better than Nightbirds’.

OH MAN! I’m flippin’ out here, TOO! :SB
Please Dutton Vocalion! Pretty please with marmalade on top! Get these Quad Treasures out on SACD!!!

P.S. now I’ve gotta try to fall asleep. Geez!! LOL!

Something I played with , t'other nite .

Alan Parsons - Tales Of Mystery..........blu-ray

Lovely track , this.

Tito Puente - Goza mi Timbal!

Never even knew this existed! Not really my style, but thought I'd get it.

It's excellent! Had to turn off my subwoofer! My neighbors already hate me!

Lots of percussion in the rears. Total immersion.

Yeah I discovered it only a few years ago myself... met Mister Puente in 1995...he was awesome!!!
Great disc too.. an 80's analog record (IIRC), mixed to MCH

I'm gonna have to check this one out...any more disco available in surround?

maybe a loose interpretation of disco, if any of these fit the bill..?
(they're all good Quad mixes imho!)

BT Express - Energy To Burn,
Earth Wind & Fire - Spirit,
Harold Melvin - Black & Blue, Wake Up Everybody,
Isley Brothers - Go For Your Guns,
Johnnie Taylor - Eargasm, Rated EXtraordinaire,
MFSB - Philadelphia Freedom,
Miracles - Love Crazy,
O'Jays - Family Reunion, Message In The Music,
Walter Murphy - A Fifth Of Beethoven,
Wild Cherry - Electrified Funk

If you like disco even a little, that Hues SACD is a must. You might also want to add these to your Dutton Vocalion cart if you don't have them yet.

ALL great albums, Brett.......but we need the Queen of Disco, one Miss Donna Summers in DISCRETE Surround from her Casablanca Record label. Steve Wilson LOVES Donna Summers as his mom used to play her all the time [when he was little stevie wilson] and has expressed interest in remixing her catalogue. Wouldn't that be special?

Meanwhile, Mill Creek Entertainment recently released a dismal BD~V of Donna's film debut "Thank God It's Friday" in 48/16 bit 2 channel Stereo: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Thank-God-Its-Friday-Blu-ray/177470/#Review

Most definitely!!! And we all know that MOM KNOWS BEST!!!

And...How about some surround love for CHIC and Nile Rodgers?

All of these disco classics need a fabulous surround mix that DANCES AROUND THE ROOM LIKE LIGHT FROM A DISCO BALL!!!
