Sony Android Bravia TV Apps

Totally confused; Video reception is better than my Optimum cable; but, several channels, like HBO, Showtime, are NOT in 5.1 surround; Starz Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc., are!
What's really weird, is that my cable channels; HBO, Showtime, etc., ARE in 5.1
Can someone explain, before I go nuts
Contacted HBO, & Showtime; they swear the Apps broadcast 5.1, but they don't; only the cable versions

I use Comcast Xfinity and have found their apps work better than those native to the Sony Android Bravia. I get 5.1 for all that are 5.1.

My biggest problem has been with the CBS app -- when I use the Sony native app to watch ST: Discovery (not available on Xfinity here), the voices and the soundtrack go out of synch after a bit. Very annoying. Cancelled the main app, and now use the CBS app in Prime (yes, you have to pay separately, and the Prime app only has a limited selection, but it plays better).
