Growing up in Oz I knew of his music in the early 70s, and like everyone who heard him around then, couldn't understand why he wasn't widely recognized as such a wonderful singer/songwriter.

I'm glad he eventually got that recognition and could enjoy his later years playing and touring his music.

I was lucky enough to see him on his comeback tour a few years ago. He had a hard life and more albums to make if things had been different but he got late recognition

I saw him at the ACL Festival in Austin back in 2010. He was on a different wavelength than his band. He would just change speeds and the band couldn't keep up. It was a horrible show. But his songwriting was good enough that I went out and bought his repackaged albums. It's been a hard week for music. Robertson, Rodriguez and LaFlamme. Please, no more for a while.
