What???

I would say the Sansui QRX-x001 series. They are monsters.

Of course, my 1970s dream was a Bose 4401 preamp (including all optional plug ins) combined with 2 of their monster two channel amps and 4 901 speakers!

:-jon

What about the Akai 1080 DB? I have one but cannot give you any specs on it as I have recently moved and the manuals are still in boxes somewhere.

Hmmmmmmmm, interesting question! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

I don't know if I should answer though......I've got a slight advantage; all I have to do is go into my storage room and look!! :rollin:

Maybe I should just see if the rest of you guys can guess!

<blockquote><strong><em>Quote:</em></strong><hr>A survey with one answer... wotta concept![/quote]

This poll is brought to you by the Iraqi Information Ministry - Quadraphonic Historical Section.
Where all loyal subjects are encouraged to purchase and place as many speakers as possible so they can experience the single voice of wisdom in glorious MONO!
Stereophonic.....Quadraphonic.......Multichannel is the voice of the infidels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is only ONE voice to be heard through millions and millions of speakers for the enlightened truth, clarity, and detail that cannot be discerned from the infidels harmonics of more than one channel!
So, freely vote your mind here......but there is only ONE answer!

note: It is well known that Saddam makes love to Camels while listening to the ORIGINAL Pet Sounds!;)

Yes!! Imagine an entire wall of clock radios all tuned to the same station! That would be something! With my luck, they'd be playing a commercial...
Marc

Hey Marc,

I think you discovered how they do quadraphonics in North Korea! (I read that their radio's are built to pickup a single freq......that of the govt. radio to prevent listening to anything else)

But, on the topic of largest quad receiver.........No one is going to guess?????????????????? Common guys, nail this down!

You have just won a free membership in the quad discussion board. To claim your prize please pay handling fee of $9.99 to this writer at PAYPAL( as apposed to playpal the worlds largest doll) it was indeed the AKAI 1080 at nearly 2 1/2 feet wide and two feet deep. I would like to ask the question" what receiver" its a non quad, had the most buttons and lights on it but I dont dare lol Clue It was unbelievably reviewed in "Stereo Review" as any piece of semi quality gear has been.

Anyone rmember that monster Telefunken quad reciever that poped up on Ebay a while back? Can't remember much about it apart from the fact that it looked like it needed a tank just to shift it! Maybe that would be in the running!:rollin:

Jon the stats tha you posted are not correct. I have 28x8x17. It had six meters but still managed to be as ugly as sin! lol

Are you sure you are not thinking of the 980. I have a 1977 Stereo Review Buyers guide, which is where I got most of the info from. The 1080 is tall, the 980 stretches out forever, with some weird kind of equalizer or something at the far left. A very weird looking beast.

The 1080 is all silver, and looks pretty normal, although it is tall. The 4 meters are way up at the top.

Sorry in my haste to declair a winner I took Mc Daddys answer on faith. YOU are again correct. It is the 980 to which I refere. PS I finaly did get both the technics scope $96 bucks and the Stereo Reviews on e-bay thanks Mark
