Wow, talk about an intimate performance! Can't get more up-close-and-personal than that.
In the early days I went to a couple that were like that.

I saw them at a smallish venue, just after they got signed to A&M Records. Afterwards we all sat round the bar and had a drink. Sting and Stuart were falling out even then.

I honestly didn't think they'd become successful at all 😲

Here's a teaser:

That's actually very cool. Man, if this release had footage of a whole show, or parts of all for a full concert experience, I'd really enjoy. Maybe I want this anyway? I like these older, intimate shows as long as the audio is respectable and the picture quality is at least good.

This one checks all the boxes for me!

Well this arrived in my mailbox this afternoon. There is the occasional subtle surround activity on the video, but nothing to get too excited about. If you're a fan of the band though, it's certainly worth having. The documentary is fun. The four bonus live clips are a great time capsule of the band as they're just about to break through to international superstardom. And the live CD kicks some serious butt. Glad I bought it.

New interview with Stewart Copeland today over at SDE. He is asked about surround sound, but like an earlier interview with Andy Summers, Stewart sort of dodges the question:

Would you be interested in having a specialist mixer do 5.1 surround mixes or Dolby Atmos mixes of The Police’s albums?

We’d certainly have to find a third party if we were to look into that. We love each other at the dinner table, and at all times when we’re not trying to make music together. We love each other on stage, when we’re in front of an audience and getting that response. That’s an amazing response and you can’t ignore it. But, when we’re not on stage and we’re in the band room, that’s when it gets very tough for us, because music has a purpose in each of our lives. For absolutely honourable reasons, we just have different perspectives on music: how to do it, what its value is, what it should be. We don’t want to get back into that warzone when we’re getting along nicely, so we’d have to
find a third party to deal with all that.

Just get Steven Wilson to mix them all and be bloody well done with it!

Let's hope "something big" means Atmos!

I volunteer the premiere topsmmersionist: Chris Porter.

This one checks all the boxes for me!

That's disappointing as I was a Civil Engineering student at Hatfield Poly but finished there in 1977 so didn't get the email.....wait a sec....what was an email back then??!

However, I did see Peter Gabriel on his first solo tour there so I guess we can't have everything and are lucky to have enjoyed the experiences we have had. I cannot remember the ticket price but suspect it was probably outrageous, maybe as much as £1.

I saw Can play there, must have been late 1975 early 1976, saw Budgie there on their "In For The Kill" tour so 1974-75 - where has all the time gone!
