• Blu-Ray Audio disc with high-resolution 48K 24 bit PCM stereo and DTS-HD Master, Audio 5.1 surround sound audio of original album (no video)

Available on October 22nd.

Wow! Rhino comes back to life! Remember the days of scouring the net for dvd audio? Rhino was on my list and I would always check it. I knew BD was going to be the way to get MC to everyone.
But they must sell the BD as a single and TAKE IT OUT of a frigging $58.00 set with a disc of 10 cuts of the same shit

In my defense (and confusion) I did an "Advanced Search" of the forum before starting this thread. Once I saw no mention of this over the past nine days of search hits, I thought maybe the Rhino announcement had not made it here, for some inexplicable reason. I figured better to get slammed than not mention it. I will make sure to correct that behavior next time (for those with the sarcastic responses).

I'm just glad everyone already knew about it and that it's available for order on Amazon already (ordered mine last night).

I always use google site search when searching QQ. The following puts the original Moondance thread right at the top of the list:

Of course this type of search is more convenient if you are using Chrome.

Not to quibble, but a basic search for Moondance (being a little more specific than Van Morrison) found it in the first 10 results. Oh wait, I guess I am quibbling. Sorry.

Are you seeing the Dolby TruHD 5.1 stream being decoded by your amp? Have a check you're not getting a straight Dolby Digital core. I thought it sounded rich and full despite it's apparent age. What's your take on it?

Yes, I am. In fact it's the first time I've seen "TrueHD" light up on my Oppo of its own volition.

Giving it a second listen now but was more taken by the remaster of CD 1.

I find that I really have to turn this BDA up to get any oomph from it all. I also feel that it has been tweaked rather too much for my taste -for example the strings and horns on "Into the Mystic" when he sings 'when that foghorn whistle blows' -you really want to say, yeah, got it.

As to antiquity, well Serge Gainbourg's Melody Nelson is of similar vintage and knocks this for six, sonically.

Could it be anything to do with Dialog Normalization, seeing as its Dolby True? (I had a similar thing with one of the HFPA Blu-ray Audio's and selecting PCM did the trick.).

Is there a 5.1 PCM option on the Moondance BDA?

the Melody Nelson BDA sounds compressed (its bloody LOUD at any rate!) but the surround mix itself is terrific, n'est pas?
